Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has described early GTA VI pre-order demand as "unprecedented and astonishing," while the publisher continues to reaffirm Rockstar's November 19, 2026 launch date.
As if there was any doubt that Grand Theft Auto VI was going to be enormous, Take-Two has provided another indication of just how much anticipation surrounds Rockstar's next release.
Following the opening of pre-orders on June 25, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has described demand for GTA VI as "unprecedented and astonishing."
The company hasn't revealed exactly how many copies have been pre-ordered, and Zelnick remained cautious about translating that early demand directly into eventual sales.
But for a game that has dominated gaming conversations for years before release, the response isn't exactly difficult to believe.
Perhaps equally important for fans, Take-Two is continuing to stand firmly behind the game's November 19, 2026 launch.
In its latest financial results, the publisher specifically highlighted excitement surrounding the November release while reiterating its fiscal 2027 net bookings forecast of between $8 billion and $8.2 billion.
GTA VI has faced delays during its long road to release, so every reaffirmation of that date will likely come as welcome news to players worried about another change.
GTA VI is set to have an extended look premiering on Netflix, 27th August.
Expectations are understandably enormous.
Grand Theft Auto V has now sold more than 230 million copies since launching in 2013, while GTA Online transformed the game into a long-term phenomenon that has remained active across multiple console generations.
GTA VI now has the difficult task of following it.
But if its early pre-order performance is anything to go by, Rockstar certainly isn't struggling to convince people to return.
There are still more than three months to go before November 19, but GTA VI is already demonstrating the kind of demand most games could only dream of generating after launch.
Keep Calm and waka waka...
