Terrible Toybox has officially announced Thimbleweed Park 2 for PC, Mac, and Linux, promising a new mystery, fresh puzzles, and another unconventional adventure when it arrives in 2028.
Fans of classic point-and-click adventures have something to celebrate, as Thimbleweed Park 2 has officially been announced.
Developed by Terrible Toybox, the sequel will launch for PC, Mac, and Linux in 2028, bringing players back to the strange and mysterious town that became a cult favourite following the release of the original game in 2017.
Created by Ron Gilbert, best known for his work on Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, the original Thimbleweed Park earned praise for blending old-school adventure game design with modern quality-of-life features, memorable characters, and a self-aware sense of humour.
The new game retains the distinctive pixel-art presentation and offbeat atmosphere of the original.
Interestingly, the developers describe the new game as "not really a sequel, not really a prequel", suggesting players can expect another unconventional story that plays with expectations - something fans of the series have come to expect.
While gameplay details remain limited, the Steam page promises a brand-new mystery to solve, fresh puzzles, and more of the quirky dialogue and pixel-art style that helped the original stand out.
The announcement has been warmly received by adventure game fans, many of whom have been hoping to revisit Thimbleweed Park for years.
At a time when classic point-and-click adventures continue to enjoy something of a resurgence, the return of one of the genre's most celebrated modern entries feels particularly well-timed.
With launch still some way off, players will have to wait before uncovering the town's next mystery.
But for fans of clever puzzles, eccentric characters, and classic LucasArts-inspired adventures, the return to Thimbleweed Park is already shaping up to be one worth watching.
Keep Calm and waka waka...
