Bethesda has confirmed multiple Fallout projects, provided a substantial update on The Elder Scrolls VI, reaffirmed its commitment to Starfield, and revealed that its next generation of RPGs is being built using the new Creation Engine 3.
Bethesda Game Studios has released a comprehensive update on the future of its biggest franchises, confirming several long-rumoured projects while offering fans a clearer picture of what's next for Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield.
The studio says it's investing more heavily in its worlds, technology, and community creators, with the goal of getting games into players' hands sooner while supporting them for years after launch.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway is Bethesda's renewed commitment to Fallout.
The studio confirmed that Fallout 5 remains its long-term destination, but revealed that multiple Fallout projects are currently in active development.
Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are officially receiving remasters after years of speculation.
Among the biggest announcements was official confirmation that remasters of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development. While Bethesda stopped short of announcing release dates, it's the first time the studio has publicly acknowledged the projects after years of rumours and leaks.
Bethesda also confirmed it is once again partnering with Obsidian Entertainment on a brand-new Fallout project. No further details were provided, but the announcement marks a major reunion between the two studios, with Obsidian famously developing Fallout: New Vegas in 2010.
Meanwhile, Fallout 76 isn't slowing down either. The online RPG has now received nearly 70 free updates, and Bethesda announced that a major expansion, Raven Rock, will launch next year as a prequel story to Fallout 3.
Despite much of the attention shifting to Bethesda's other franchises, the studio made it clear that Starfield remains a major part of its future.
The sci-fi RPG has now surpassed 17 million players, who have collectively logged almost one billion hours in-game.
As the game enters its third year, Bethesda says players can expect new stories, gameplay improvements, additional updates, and fresh Starborn content arriving next year.
The studio also highlighted the success of its Creations platform, revealing that more than 40% of Starfield players now customise their experience with community-created content.
Bethesda says The Elder Scrolls VI is now the studio's primary development focus.
Bethesda also revealed that both The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 are now being developed using its brand-new Creation Engine 3.
Built following Starfield's launch, the updated engine introduces new rendering technology, development tools, and systems designed to allow multiple Bethesda RPGs to be developed simultaneously.
While Fallout 5 remains in pre-production, Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI is now the studio's primary focus, with the majority of the development team currently working on the highly anticipated sequel.
The studio acknowledged fans' long wait since Skyrim, saying it knows "it's been a very long wait," before adding that the team is "where we planned to be," is "loving how it looks," and is already playing the game every day.
Creation Engine 3 represents one of Bethesda's biggest technical investments to date, with the studio aiming to support multiple large-scale RPGs in development simultaneously while extending post-launch support through community-created content.
The update also touched on Bethesda's growing entertainment ambitions.
The studio confirmed that an unscripted Fallout Shelter television project is in development alongside Amazon Studios and Kilter Films, while celebrating the 10 Emmy nominations earned by Fallout Season 2. Bethesda also revealed that production on Season 3 is already underway.
Looking ahead, fans can also expect a special live celebration for Fallout's 30th anniversary in 2027, replacing this year's traditional Fallout Day broadcast.
Taken together, the announcement paints one of the clearest pictures yet of Bethesda's future.
Whether you're waiting to revisit the Capital Wasteland, return to New Vegas, explore Tamriel once again, or continue your journey through the Settled Systems, Bethesda has made one thing clear: its biggest worlds are only getting bigger.
Keep Calm and waka waka...
