Hasbro has opened a new Wizards of the Coast development studio in Montréal, with plans to grow to approximately 200 employees by 2028. The investment will support future Dungeons & Dragons projects and the company's expanding digital games portfolio.
Hasbro is preparing to roll the dice on the next generation of Dungeons & Dragons video games, officially opening a new Wizards of the Coast development studio in Montréal, Canada.
The studio, named Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc., opened its doors on 8 October 2026 and will focus on creating new content for the Dungeons & Dragons franchise while supporting the company's wider digital games portfolio.
And Hasbro has some ambitious plans for its newest development hub.
Located in downtown Montréal, the new 35,518-square-foot facility is expected to grow to approximately 200 employees by 2028, potentially creating hundreds of opportunities within the city's established game development industry.
The studio will bring together developers and other teams working across Wizards of the Coast's expanding digital operations.
Speaking in Hasbro's official announcement, Dan Ayoub, Senior Vice President and Head of Dungeons & Dragons, described the studio as a major investment in the company's future.
Ayoub said the facility would become Hasbro's largest concentration of video game talent, highlighting Montréal's established development community as a major reason for the investment.
This isn't Wizards of the Coast's first venture into Montréal.
The company has maintained a presence in the region since acquiring Invoke Studios in 2019, with its latest expansion further strengthening its ties to the local industry.
As Retail Dive reports, the opening forms part of Hasbro's wider efforts to expand Dungeons & Dragons across digital entertainment.
Exactly what the new studio will be developing remains unclear, with no specific games or release dates announced.
However, with a dedicated development hub, plans for significant recruitment and one of gaming's most recognisable fantasy franchises at its disposal, Hasbro is clearly looking to expand its ambitions beyond the tabletop.
For Dungeons & Dragons fans, the prospect of more adventures is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
And for game developers in Montréal, it could mean some interesting new career opportunities.
Keep Calm and waka waka...
