The GDC Festival of Gaming is changing its schedule for 2027, with the event set to run from Monday 1 March to Thursday 4 March at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
The official GDC website now advertises a four-day event, while GamesIndustry.biz reported that organisers are concentrating activity into the days with the strongest attendance.
The revised format places conference sessions and the Business Hall across the four-day period. The Festival Hall is scheduled to open from Tuesday through Thursday.
GDC continues to promote workshops, summits, networking opportunities and sessions spanning programming, design, business, audio and other development disciplines. Its official site lists more than 700 sessions and workshops across the wider programme, although individual schedules and access arrangements should be checked before booking travel.
For professionals travelling to GDC, losing the Friday programme could reduce the time needed away from work and potentially make accommodation and travel planning more straightforward. It may also concentrate meetings and networking into a shorter window.
Studios sending recruiters, business development teams or speakers should revisit their schedules rather than assume the familiar five-day pattern. Independent developers hoping to meet publishers or collaborators may particularly benefit from planning appointments early.
