Your mission

We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of big hit VR titles like Arizona Sunshine, The 7th Guest and the highly anticipated Metro Awakening. Our Amsterdam studio is gearing up to start development for a big IP project and we are looking to recruit a seasoned Technical Artist who can help push the boundaries of our art team's capability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Optimize scenes and assets to ensure smooth performance and optimal player experience.
  • Test and troubleshoot optimization issues.
  • Research and implement technical improvements.
  • Train other artists in best practices, tools and processes.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and new technologies related to VR optimization and asset creation.
  • Provide technical tools and guidance to ensure art assets meet performance and quality standards.


Your profile

  • You are able to analyse and solve workflow/pipeline issues.
  • Your communication and documentation is accessible and concise, supporting the art and tech team's efforts.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other disciplines.
  • Multiple years of experience working in the games industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine e.g. shaders, blueprint, particle systems.
  • Good understanding of performance implications and optimizations.
  • Strong knowledge of pixel and vertex shaders.
  • Familiarity with special effects software (e.g. FumeFX, RealFlow, Embergen, Houdini).
  • Knowledge of modelling and texturing pipeline.


Bonus points for

  • Knowledge of VFX and Niagara.
  • Substance Painter & Designer experience.
  • Experience with Houdini.
  • Knowledge of MEL and Python.
  • Programming skills in C++.
  • Understanding of CGFX and/or HLSL shader languages.
  • Experience with Maya/Blender.
