SENIOR ART MANAGER

Our Senior Art Manager is responsible for driving and maintaining the visual development of our games. This role will directly report to the Studio Art Director. You will also be working closely with our senior engineers and game designers. We seek an individual capable of managing others and shaping the vision for our projects across various styles, with experience in AAA Games. This position will involve hands-on work in developing concepts and mood pieces to precisely hit our visual targets. You'll bring your leadership, organizational skills and deep understanding of Art Department dynamics and needs to Super Evil's Art team. It's an ideal opportunity for someone aiming to progress beyond the senior or lead artist level and take their first step toward becoming an Art Director.

What you'll do:

  • Manage pipelines around concept, modeling, texturing, animation, VFX, and Audio, etc.
  • Balance short-term tactical solutions against long-term strategies
  • Manage outsourced partners by providing feedback, paint-overs, and direction
  • Proactively troubleshoot and explore diverse approaches to achieving product goals
  • Document and refine processes wherever possible
  • Work within a broad spectrum of artistic styles and themes to complement various game genres
  • Assist the Art Director in developing the Art Department and its team members
  • Manage groups of artists in a dynamically evolving production environment

Requirements:
  • 7+ years experience as a Lead or Senior artist with at least 2 shipped titles
  • Expert grasp of foundational art skills, hands-on concept and illustration skills, color theory, composition, shape language, form, silhouette, etc.
  • Deep understanding of human and animal anatomy
  • Understanding of gameplay needs such as clarity and readability
  • Have experience in visual stylization across multiple platforms
  • Ability to align multidisciplinary teams behind a creative vision by providing feedback, guidance, and asset critiques
  • Work with minimal direction and take on leadership responsibilities effectively

Bonus points for:
  • Experience working on game with an isometric camera angle
  • Experience with 3D programs
  • Experience working with various game engines from licensed to proprietary
  • AAA game development experience
  • Mobile game development experience
  • Experience in TV and films

The base annual salary range for this position in the United States is $100-155K. The base salary is just one part of the overall compensation package. This base pay range is for the United States only and does not apply to international locations. The range for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
