Do you have real-time visual effects experience, and are you seeking a new job opportunity? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Skillsearch is looking for a talented and dedicated Senior Real-Time VFX Artist to join our client's inclusive and welcoming team. This full-time VFX Artist role is fully remote in Canada or can be based at the company's office in either B.C. or Alberta if this is your preference. This position comes with an attractive salary and benefits package.

As a Senior Real-Time VFX Artist, you will author a wide range of gold-standard visual effects in the company's new and exciting science fiction universe. You will also be working with the Principal VFX Lead and collaborating with the broader team to help explore and design realistic, innovative visual effects from concept to completion, using various advanced tools, technologies and techniques. Initial work will support pre-production and prototyping and transition quickly into producing production-quality real-time visual effects for the final game.

In your first few weeks in this Senior Real-Time VFX Artist role, you can expect to:

  • Work with the Principal VFX Lead in collaboration with the creative, narrative and art directors to explore and establish aesthetic gameplay and narrative concepts in real-time, in-game VFX 
  • Create all aspects of high-quality visual effects for the Unreal 5 Engine, including dynamic and baked fluid and rigid body simulations, Niagara particle systems, post-process effects, custom shaders and procedurally animated meshes 
  • Assist with defining and achieving the final render quality by understanding essential animation principles, colour theory, composition, lighting and purposeful shape language 
  • Support standards and best practices for VFX workflows and asset integration 

To apply for this Senior VFX Artist role, you will need 5 years of experience or at least two shipped titles as a Real-Time VFX Artist. You will also require the following:

  • A portfolio demonstrating your ability to create high-quality, real-time visual effects in the Unreal Engine (Niagara particle systems are preferred) 
  • At least one shipped title as a Senior Real-Time VFX Artist 
  • Broad experience creating a variety of gameplay, cinematic and environmental effects using VFX content authoring tools such as Photoshop, After Effects, Houdini, Maya and Niagara 
  • Familiarity with Substance Designer, EmberGen or Fluid Ninja (preferred)
