Our client, an independent videogame development and publishing company with studios in Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona, Istanbul, and Brighton, is seeking a Gameplay Programmer who is passionate and experienced with multiplayer tech. This full-time role comes with a generous salary and benefits package.

In your first few weeks in this Gameplay Programmer role, you can expect to:

  • Collaborate with other programmers, designers and content creators to build and enrich the game while adhering to the main vision set by the Game Director and following the guidelines defined by the Technical Director on the project 
  • Work primarily in C++, creating code, systems, and visual building blocks for designers to be used in Glacier, the client's in-house technology, via our integrated Visual Scripting Language 
  • Interact and collaborate on shared technology with other adjacent domains, particularly animtech, multiplayer and AI 

To apply, you will need 2+ years of professional gameplay programming experience, on a AAA title, preferably multiplayer. You will work day-to-day in C++, so we expect you to have a solid foundation and understanding of the best practices. In addition, you should have:

  • Hands-on experience with gameplay features implementation, such as - Systems, characters, cameras, control scheme, weapons and items, abilities and progression, environments, and interactions 
  • A good foundation in mathematics, algorithms, and data structures

Often referred to as London-by-the-sea, as well as being under an hour via rail to the capital, these is clearly a lot to Brighton that is highly desirable! Thanks to its compact city centre, the best way to manoeuvre Brighton’s busy streets is on foot, which is certainly the most interesting way to get around too, making for a beautiful stroll around the famous lanes. As well as the lanes, Brighton is famous for its stunning beach, which is certainly a tourist spot come summertime. You can sit on the pebbles with an ice cream, go for a stroll down the Palace Pier, or even take a swim around the old West Pier, an iconic landmark in the city.

As well as the landmarks, Brighton is famous for being a hugely welcoming and accepting city, there is no way anyone could feel out of place thanks to its vastly diverse culture, you will find people from all walks of life in this city. Just outside of the city lies the South Downs, with plenty of scenery and wildlife available to explore, highlights include Devils Dyke and Ditchling Beacon, which offer a stunning respite from city life.

A little bit about the city: Istanbul

Istanbul is known as a highly interesting city full of impressive sites and landmarks. The city is unique in that it is half Asian and half European, with these two continents separated by the Bosphorus Sea. The city is known for being a maze, which can be overwhelming at first but create a great place to explore once you get used to them. Freedom of religion and attitude can be enjoyed in Istanbul, it’s cosmopolitan feel means people from all walks of life will be welcomed and will have no problem settling in. There are many ways to get around Istanbul, thanks to their extensive public transportation system, consisting of buses, the metro, tram and light rail and ferries.

A little bit about the city: Barcelona

Barcelona’s stunning beaches, balmy weather and striking architecture are all great reasons to settle in this beautiful city. Home to many restaurants, museums and traditions, there’s certainly a lot to explore. One feature the city is certainly proud of is that it is home to 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, largely thanks to Gaudi’s architecture which can be found at various sites citywide.

Barcelona’s compact city centre and excellent transport system make getting around trouble-free and commuting time minimal. Home to a flourishing international community, Barcelona is a great city to relocate to if you’re hoping to feel at home.

A little bit about the city: Copenhagen

With Denmark consistently being ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world, it’s no surprise that its capital has a lot going for it. Copenhagen offers excellent working conditions, world-class healthcare, beautiful surrounding scenery and a fantastic quality of life, as well as being seen as one of the safest major cities out there. The government has the best interest of residents at heart, which makes for well looked after, happy, friendly people! Having been named as the top nation when it comes to work-life balance, Denmark is a wonderful place to live if you’re after a modern, thriving and friendly city.
