Skillsearch is helping a games studio find an AI engineer interested in videogame AI to help them build AI behaviours and systems that enhance their games' realism, challenge, and player engagement. This full-time AI engineering role is based in Kirkland and offers a favourable salary and benefits.

In this embedded software engineer role, the first project you’ll work on is a tactical military shooter, which recently launched into Early Access with huge success and is scheduled for full release on PC and consoles in late 2024.

To give you an idea of how this flexible role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

  • Collaborate with AI designers and other AI engineers to build AI behaviours and systems in both C++ and Unreal Blueprints 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain AI algorithms and systems, including pathfinding, decision-making, and navigation 

  • Optimize the efficiency of our AI systems to enable increasingly sophisticated AI behaviours and higher numbers of active NPCs in our games 

  • Design and implement reactive and adaptive AI systems that provide dynamic and engaging experiences for players. 

To apply for this AI role, you will need a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience. You will also require the following:

  • Proficiency with C++ programming and experience with Unreal Engine development 

  • An understanding of visual scripting and behaviour trees, and the basic principles of videogame AI 

  • Previous experience with multiplayer and networked game AI is a plus.
