Product Manager
Reporting to: Chief Product Officer
Hours: Full time (4-day work week: 30 hours Tuesday – Friday)
Purpose of the position
The purpose of the role of a Product Manager is to be accountable for the productisation of the company's games and to work with stakeholders and creatives to develop a strategy for digital game products. This includes identifying the market viability of products and features, designing, and reporting on in-game analytics, leading business development initiatives, managing external deliverables to partners, and shepherding the development of pitch decks and material for business development. The Product Manager will also be responsible for working with Producers to create, manage and track project schedules, dependencies, deadlines, and other documentation to ensure the delivery and quality of the product. The ultimate goal of the role is to bring innovative and successful digital game products to market.
Responsibilities and duties
The role of a Product Manager involves a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
Defining the product strategy: The Product Manager is responsible for creating a clear and comprehensive strategy for the product being developed. They work with stakeholders to define the strategy for the game and ensure that everyone is aligned on the long-term vision.
Defining the game's roadmap: The Product Manager is responsible for defining the roadmap for the game, including identifying the key milestones and objectives for the game's development and launch. They also oversee the entire development process, from conception to launch and beyond. This involves developing and managing a product roadmap that accounts for timeline, budget and available resources.
Conducting market research and competitive analysis: The Product Manager is responsible for understanding the market, the target audience, and the competition. They use this information to inform the game vision and strategy and make informed decisions about the product roadmap.
Monitoring in-game metrics and KPIs: The Product Manager is responsible for tracking key performance indicators and metrics to ensure that the game is meeting its goals and objectives. They use this information to make data-driven decisions about the game's future.
Collaborating with other teams and functions of the company: The Product Manager works closely with teams such as design, engineering, marketing, and QA to ensure that the game is delivered on time and to the desired quality standards.
Communicating with stakeholders: The Product Manager is responsible for communicating updates, status, and information about the game to stakeholders, including executives, partners, and other internal teams.
Managing the game soft-launch, launch, and maintenance: The Product Manager oversees the soft-launch, launch, and ongoing maintenance of the game. This involves ensuring that the game is ready for launch, executing the launch plan, and ensuring that the game continues to meet the needs of its players.
Identifying and implementing monetisation strategies: The Product Manager is responsible for identifying and implementing strategies to monetise the game. This may involve working with marketing, engineering, and other teams to create in-game purchases or advertisements.
Ensuring the game's quality and success in the marketplace: The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring that the game is of high quality and that it meets the needs of its target audience. They work with the development team to make improvements to the game, and they measure its success in the marketplace.
Researching new product opportunities: The Product Manager is responsible for researching and ideating new product opportunities in line with the strategy of the game. They use this information to inform the game's roadmap and to identify new opportunities for the company.
