Technical Animator in Brighton

If you’re a Technical Animator looking for a new opportunity to work on a new, massive well-known IP, read on to find out more about this role in Brighton!

As a Technical Animator at this highly regarded studio, you will be joining a dedicated team and working on a next-generation AAA character-action game. You will be an expert in Technical Animation and able to deal with technical issues with ease and efficiency. Within the role you will be holding responsibility for producing high quality work, with a background of resolving complex challenges in pipeline management and visuals.

Technical Animator responsibilities:

Provide support for technical art and animation tools

Build rigs to handle character and creature animation

Troubleshoot any issues with the animation pipeline

Work on optimisation and performance strategies

Keep up to date with the latest technological advancements

Help in setting the vision for both content and tools

Work with engineers to develop new tools and technologies

Review animation solutions and develop new ones

Help the art team with any technical issues that they encounter

Key requirements for this role in Brighton:

Strong knowledge of rigging, skinning and animation

Able to script tools in DCC/engine to support animation pipelines (in Python, C++, C#, Lua, MAXScript, MEL, etc.)

Experience of working on version control systems such as Git

Excellent understanding of rendering pipelines including materials, lighting, occlusion culling, PBR, etc.

Knowledge or one or more of the following: Maya, Houdini, Blender, 3DSMax, Modo, Zbrush, Motionbuilder

Experience of game engines such as Unreal, Unity or Lumberyard

Experience with working with motion capture data
