If you are a highly experienced Environment Artist, with aspirations of retaining a hands on approach throughout your career then this role could be the one for you!

As the Principal Environment Artist you will play a pivotal role in the continued growth of a successful VR studio that is firmly established at the forefront of VR development.

You will be joining and leading a hard working and highly skilled team that has delivered multiple titles including a recent multiple award winning VR game. The latest project is already on track to be a big hit so it's a great time to make the move to this expanding studio that has an open, welcoming and diverse culture where empowering individuals is the norm.

As the Principal Environment Artist you will...

  • Conceive & visualise core concepts for stunning and immersive in-game environments
  • Collaborate with level designers to create worlds that combine creativity & design to deliver creative gameplay
  • Effectively compose lighting, set dressing, atmosphere and more, resulting in coherent & believable worlds in conjunction with other disciplines including VFX, audio & character
  • Lead & mentor the environment team & inspire them & the wider studio with your artistic vision
  • Push the studio's creative boundaries and build on previous achievements 


Essential skills & experience you will need include...

  • Highly experienced with 4+ years as an environment artist and experience of working on multiple shipped titles
  • Skilled at creating cohesive & believable worlds across different styles
  • Self-motivated and autonomous
  • Demonstrable ability to interpret & translate art direction consistently
  • Strong sense of composition, lighting, form & colour
  • Highly experienced in the creative and efficient use of real-time engines (e.g. UE4) and relevant tools (Maya, Z-Brush)
  • Ability to use a range of techniques to create 3D assets
  • Experienced team player with strong communication skills & a consistent, well-tempered attitude
  • Able to effectively & respectfully critique the work of others, inspiring their quest for quality

Strong illustrative and storyboarding skills would be a bonus.
