LEAD PROGRAMMER - POLAND

As a Lead Programmer in our Poland studio, you will lead and motivate a small team of programmers and take responsibility for specific areas of the game design and work closely with all disciplines to deliver on the overall game vision.

Third Kind Games is an independent game developer based in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, the heart of the UK games industry. In addition we have now established a Polish office, which is a centre of excellence for Programming and works closely with the UK Team.

Third Kind was founded in 2016, by a group of industry veterans from many high profile companies such as Activision, Codemasters, Sony, Crytek and more.

Third Kind focuses on emerging technologies and greenfield projects, supported by a dynamic and creative team who are able to explore new ground in this ever-changing landscape.

We are working on several high-profile unannounced projects, making Third Kind Games an incredibly exciting place to be right now. We are also setting new benchmarks for creativity in the games industry, driving technical expertise in programming alongside creative innovation.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE

  • You will understand our customer needs and ensure the programming team contributes to player satisfaction and enjoyment, making our games more fun to play.
  • You will recruit and lead a small team of Programmers, creating a positive environment which focuses on open feedback, mentoring and the career development of your team.
  • You can prioritise the daily workflows to ensure a balanced approach to workload and production management on behalf of the Programmer team.
  • You will lead by example and use your knowledge to support the development and performance of the team.
  • You will be working with a highly experienced team on all areas of the game, both client and server.
  • You will fully own complex systems through design and development, working closely with the Programmers and other disciplines to realise their visions.
  • You will help to drive to our creative planning sessions, scrums, and retrospectives.
  • You will play an active role in the mentoring and development of junior staff.


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR FROM AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • You will be capable of working autonomously, gathering your own requirements and creating your own solutions.
  • Strong understanding of how an engine works and the commercial implications.
  • Naturally inquisitive, you keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and cascade according to support the development of your team.
  • You will prefer a creative, open-thinking environment over one driven by specs and detailed requirements.
  • You can take a design brief and flesh out the ideas, finding the problems, the fun, and explaining these to relevant stake-holders.
  • You will be adept at communicating with colleagues and customers to work well as a team.


SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years' industry experience.
  • 5+ years' C++ or C# experience.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Experience with engines such as Unity, Lumberyard and Unreal.


DESIRED

  • Experience with multiplayer games.
  • Experience with modern console development.
