You'll be a key part of the Engineering team and provide ongoing engineering, architecture and quality consulting to the development and QA teams (both internal and remote) in order to identify automation opportunities and optimize test cycles where applicable.
This role is based in Guildford and reports to the Lead Tools Engineer
What will you do?
Architect an automation framework and manage associated test environments
Help in building Automation Engineering team
Ensure that your team adheres to established coding standards, development philosophies, and maintains efficient coding practices
Evaluate and mentor members of the Automation engineering team
Collaborate with Dev, QA and feature teams to identify automation opportunities on upcoming deliverables to increase test coverage and optimize test cycles
Assist in identifying new testing tools, solutions, debug options and automation opportunities and proving their value to the project
Provide ongoing project risk analysis and report on progress status
Demonstrate transparency and active communication with QA, feature teams and dev management
Support and train internal and remote QA and Dev teams in utilizing framework expansions, new scripts and tools introduced to the project
What are we looking for 5+ years of programming experience (ideally in the gaming industry)
Must have strong knowledge of programming with C++
Strong code review and interpersonal skills
Passion for automation, validation, verification and software development with a service-oriented attitude
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
Risk analysis and problem-solving skills
Leadership potential or previous leadership experience
Solid working knowledge of source control (e.g. Perforce) and CI (e.g. Jenkins) tools
What additional skills/experience will help you stand out Familiarity with Unreal 4 toolchains, especially Gauntlet
History creating Automation Framework from scratch
Experience with Games-as-a-service projects
Experience with Continuous Testing and Dev Ops
Worked previously with offsite teams
