Allegorithmic pulls unexpected twist when announcing Meet MAT 3D Painting contest winners
The winners of Allegorithmic’s Meet MAT 3D Painting Contest have finally been announced, but there’s quite a few more than we first thought. The competition, which involved painting a vinyl figure in the company’s Substance Painter software, generated far more entries than expected. With entries counting at over 1,200, a last minute change of rules was called for.
To cope with the number of entries which vastly passed Allegorithmic’s expectations, the number of winners, and subsequent rewards, was increased! Twenty winners were chosen by industry judges instead the original three, while ten students received awards instead of the initial one. Prizes donated by the industry ranged from top of the range AMD graphics cards, to 3D printed MATs and t-shirts!
You can view the finalists here, but below are just a few of our favourites
Gabriel D’Orazio – “Mat by Vincent”
Liu Zinan – “Antique Mat”
Guillaume Hecht – “The Substance Sherif”
Elouan Harmand – “Wooly Mat”
Dominik Hilder – “The Dark Lord”
