Funding secured earlier this year from Portugal Ventures, the country’s largest venture capital group, has enabled Bica Studios to grow from 5 to 13 employees. Mobile casual game development has accelerated and thheir first title Smash Time is already in soft launch in CH, MX, AR, CO and PT obtaining great classifications on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Aptoide and Playphone.
In a recent PocketGamer interview, Bica Studios CEO Nuno Folhadela states “The Portuguese development scene is booming right now! Almost every month, if not less, we see a new game or studio announcement. We are looking forward to seeing more established studios to appear here as it's pretty evident that Lisbon is the perfect place for tech companies to be based, bearing in mind expenses and lifestyle.”
