Sumo Digital is one of the UK's most prolific and secure independent game developers with a talented team spread across four UK Studios; Sheffield, Nottingham, Newcastle and The Chinese Room in Brighton, along with our India studio in Pune. It's an exciting time to be part of Sumo; we are growing across all our studios to support a very bright and busy future.
Sumo Newcastle joined the family in January 2018. This highly experienced team is also looking to grow and add to their high-calibre staff across all disciplines.
We have a host of well known partners that we work with including Microsoft, Sega, Sony, Disney and many more. Working alongside them our previous successes include Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox 360), LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3), Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box Speedway (multi-platform), and our first self-published title Snake Pass (multi-platform).
Looking down the road we have several exciting but unannounced projects that we are working on (all very hush hush!), but we can share that we are incredibly proud to be working on the highly anticipated Crackdown 3 (Xbox One), Dead Island 2 (multi-platform), Project Nova (PC) and Team Sonic Racing (multi-platform).
Here at Sumo we are planning for big things. Don't miss out. Join us.
Sumo Digital are delighted to announce the return of our Programming undergraduate placement scheme for the academic year 2019/20.
Sumo's placement scheme is open to promising Games Programming/Development/Computer Science undergraduates at any UK university who require an industrial placement in their third year.
The scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for talented students who are committed to improving their skills by spending one year working as games programmers on our live projects. We value highly the contribution that exceptional, undergraduate raw talent can bring to our studio and many placement students have returned to work for us permanently after graduation.
Applicants must have a passion for games programming and should be working towards a 1st classification in their studies with good examples of their own work in C++ to show.
Placements will run from September 2019 - September 2020 (with some flexibility) and there are opportunities at our Sheffield, Nottingham and Newcastle studios. We will also consider applications from those looking for shorter undergraduate placements (20-40 weeks) in our Sheffield studio from February 2019. Please state clearly on your application the start and end dates required for your placement.
To apply, please upload your CV and cover letter by clicking the link on our careers page www.sumo-digital.com . Please also include your C++ code samples via link, Github or Dropbox.
