Engineering Manager - Game Engine
We have an amazing opportunity for an Engineering Manager to work closely with our talented team of C++ engine developers based in Stockholm. We want a person who loves coaching and mentoring others to enable the team to continue their growth as a happy and productive C++ engine group.
Your role within our Kingdom
Our team builds and supports the engine that powers some of Kings biggest franchises, such as Candy Crush Saga, Bubble Witch Saga, and our newest hit Candy Crush Friends. We've had a lot of success, but are still humble and open enough to know we can always learn and improve ourselves, our practices, and from each other.
Our staff are looking for an amazing Engineering Manager to guide, coach and develop the team whilst building a solid working relationship with all. We want to continue providing a safe environment for self-growth, which supports personal goal setting and offer constructive feedback, to help the team get the best out of their career, whilst offering positive career advice and training.
You won't have do it alone, too. You'll be supported as part of a bigger management team including product owners, the technical director, the release team, our Agile coach and your other Engineering Manager counterpart in Barcelona.
You'll help with hiring, retention, on boarding new staff, helping to run performance reviews, and be a big part of growing our Stockholm family and making this a great place to work.
You'll also identify and challenge any performance issues in the teams preventing them from reaching their best outcomes. The rest of our leadership will want to hear from you when you when you identify needs, and want your suggestions for paths to improvement in the organization.
Skills to create thrills
You thrive when developing great people and teams, not just great software and products. You have:
* Ability to inspire, grow, lead and manage a team to high performance standards
* Experience managing engineers, and have successfully solved many of the tough organisational challenges that follow. You will be comfortable managing teams comprised of 10 to 20 persons
* Demonstrated, strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
* Ideally we're looking for a former C++ engine/games programmer who has decided that growing other developers is their calling now.
Our tech stack is a custom cross platform C++ engine, with a QT based editor, targeting IOS, Android, PC and HTML5.
Experience within the game software development would be a bonus, however we are truly looking for an inspiring manager of people who will manage and progress the C++ engine developer team.
A great saga needs all sorts of heroes
Making games is fun! Especially when you do it with people who share the same idea of what makes a good workplace, great. We design games for everyone, no matter where they are or who they are, and we employ all sorts of people from all kinds of backgrounds to bring them to life. Truth is, we simply can't expect diversity in our players and originality in our games without first nurturing it in our people. A great saga needs all sorts of heroes. And that's it.
We're Seriously Playful
Officially, we're a leading interactive entertainment company for the mobile world. Unofficially, we're a serious business that's not afraid to have fun. Every day at King, we mix intuition with logic, art with science and magic with mathematics to create the games the world loves to play. Together with our parent company Activision Blizzard, our mission is to bring moments of magic to everyday life. If you think this is something you can help us achieve, let's talk.
