HRC Recruitment is currently working with a Games Studio in Dundee, looking for a full-time 3D Generalist to join their growing team in Dundee, UK. They are looking to hear from people who have a passion for solving development challenges and a strong drive to do the best work they possibly can. You will need to be passionate about creating spectacular and technically sound 3D artwork for games, talented and highly-motivated, with a genuine interest in playing games.

Reporting to the Lead Artist & Art Director, the 3D Generalist is versatile and works within a team of artists to create various assets necessary for the monthly content pushes and milestones. The 3D generalist is able to maintain and manage high levels of quality while working in a rapid, rigorous, and timely manner; has advanced/ intermediate modelling, texturing and animating experience in addition to knowledge of art processes and production pipelines.

What you will do:

• Work with the art team to create detailed, yet efficient 3D models and textures. 

• Ability to visualize and conceive objects, characters, or other elements in a way that contributes to the overall visual quality of the production. 

• Participate in Research and Development

• Help with the production of non-3D art. 

• Work on Animation 

• Responsibility includes Schedule to deliver art assets on time and of a high quality.

• Actively seek out and work on feedback from peers, as well as provide your own feedback. 

• Propose solutions to improve the development of projects in the company

• Identify and promote the application of artistic best practices within the company

• Collaborating with programmers to complete projects

What you will need to have:

• At least 2 years of experience in the games industry as an artist.

• A bachelor degree in Digital Arts or equivalent is an advantage.

• Work from concept and photo references during the art creation process.

• A portfolio that shows the ability to execute a diverse range of work, such as hard surface props, weathered architecture and organic assets.

• Rigging / Animation ability is preferred. 

• A mastery of relevant software packages such as Maya, Photoshop, Substance & Zbrush.

• Experience in character art development is an advantage.

• Rigging / Animation ability is preferred.

• Have an in-depth knowledge of 3D art pipelines and the PBR workflow.

• Experience with implementing 3D artwork within a games engine.

• Skilled at balancing art quality and performance within a games engine. 

• Experience in character art development is an asset

• Good communication skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

• Ideally held a 3D artist role previously

• A rooted interest and passion for video games.
