Software Test Engineer (STE) - Owner of specific project area/s planning, test coverage and test quality

The STE owns testing quality for specific game areas, providing risk assessments and mitigation, ensures effective test coverage and traceability, mentors less experienced STEs, and owns bug tracking and quality for assigned areas

The studio are working to change the way that video games are made by truly embracing Quality at Source development. We are now looking for an experienced

Software Test Engineer to join the already stellar team and assist with driving quality upstream development across the studio. In addition to this you will

be working on creating test automation scripts and helping the developers test as they go.


§   Proven track record of testing 2 projects from start to completion

§   Good team leader, builder and team player

§   Strong understanding of the test process and platform knowledge

§   Proactive and self-motivated, identifies problems in advance and presents innovative test approaches

§   Proven expert testing knowledge and game components

§   Very good knowledge of English

§   Very active team player with excellent written and spoken communication skills

§   Ability to meet deadlines

§   Demonstrable abilty to think outside the box, and of being quick to come up with novel solutions to newly-faced problems


§   Building partner relationships with development teams to improve collaboration, communication and knowledge transfer

§   Ownership of specific game areas (e.g. Environment, Multiplayer, Characters, BVTs, Store, etc.)

§   Primary point of contact for customer and development team for specific areas of ownership

§   Create, run and maintain test cases and test scenarios

§   Ensure test team members work closely together, expand and sharing knowledge

§   Adjustment and improvement to test approach to capture issues early in the development process

§   Identifying testing gaps in the test approach  and work towards effective solution

§   Vet bug reports to ensure quality and correct bug resolution when regressed

§   Provide feedback and suggestions to improve game quality and game experience

§   Constantly strive to improve his/her knowledge of testing practices and relevant hardware

§   Share his/her knowledge with other team members

§   Promote test within the development process and proactively identify tasks that would benefit from test input

§   Hands on time playing and testing the games to understand issues in context and provide better solutions

§   Assess and develop necessary skills as informed by risks and gaps measured in test planning activities

§   Assist in testing co-ordination, test status reporting and risk assessment based on the test scope, schedule and requirements

§   Work towards becoming an area specialist and 1st point of contact for other team members

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Prior experience with Agile development and/or Test-driven development (TDD).
  • Prior work in an embedded test environment
  • Experience testing games built in Unreal
  • Experience using TeamCity, and/or Blueprint for Unreal
  • Automated testing experience – either writing scripts or working with automated tests
  • Test experience on Win 10 PC’s and/or game consoles
  • Any level of C++ knowledge is a big plus
