Demonware creates and provides the online services behind hugely popular video game franchises such as Call of Duty and Skylanders. We provide matchmaking, microtransactions, storage, and account management services for almost half a billion users. Demonware has offices in Dublin, Ireland; Vancouver, Canada; and Shanghai, China, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc.

The Gateway and Client Code team in Demonware is responsible for game code which is embedded directly into Activision games, as well as the gateway layer of the Demonware network. We deal with some of the difficult challenges of making online service development easier for our colleagues and customers in Demonware and elsewhere in Activision.

We are looking for a technical lead to join the team.


• Work closely with game studios to understand their long-term needs for our core client code
• Guide and facilitate design and decision making around Demonware's gateway applications and client code
• Collaborate with the project manager to map out and deliver team objectives and priorities for the year based on company goals and studios' requirements
• Organize and coordinate team members to effectively work on features together and with other teams in Demonware
• Ensure the software produced by the team achieves the quality bar we expect for our products
• Ensure the team's software development process works effectively and supports the pace and needs of the project
• Conduct 1-1 meetings, set individual goals and development objectives for team members
• Collaborate with HR and recruitment on various people and recruitment needsRequirements:

• 2-4 years of experience in similar leadership role (other combinations of technical skills and experience may be considered)
• Significant hands-on experience with either or both C++ and Erlang
• Previous experience delivering SDKs, or other software and tools targeted at a developer audience
• Ability to own the day-to-day fundamentals of engineering projects, and provide technical direction with minimal supervision
• Ability to engage, develop, and retain high-performing engineers
• A desire to work collaboratively with other teams to achieve shared goals
• Previous experience building and leading software development teams
• Expertise in effective project management processes, software development methodologies, and their application
