Description
id Software is looking for talented and experienced level designers eager to join our accomplished team of designers.

Designers are expected to work in a collaborative team environment in the development of entertaining and cinematic game play experiences. They are responsible for the documentation and world construction of these experiences. Working with game play scripters, animators, artists, sound design and programmers, they are responsible for the implementation and tuning of the gameplay experience.

Applicants should provide specific examples of relevant work. These examples can be in the form of playable game levels, screenshots, scripting examples, video captures, or any other method that conveys the work being demonstrated. Examples should also include descriptions of exactly what the applicant is responsible for and what creative processes were used.

Requirements

2+ years of game industry experience as a designer
Significant contributions to at least 1 AAA shipped game.
Firm understanding of first person action shooters and the game theory and design principles behind successful examples.
Experience with engine specific toolsets (Radiant, DEdit, UnrealEd, etc.)
Familiarity with world building tools and/or relevant 3D software packages.
Self-motivated and focused worker with good communication and collaboration skills
Good time management skills and an understanding of and appreciation for milestones, schedules, deadlines and efficient game development processes.
A passion for games and gaming.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent team player with very strong work ethic and ability to take and act on feedback.

Desired Skills and Pluses

Familiarity with id Software games, characters, brands and worlds
Multiplayer game design
Proficiency with modeling tools (Max, Maya, LightWave, Modo or other similar)
Experience with story creation and dialogue
Programming and/or scripting experience
Traditional art skills
