Bethesda Softworks is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure operations team. A candidate hoping to join the team should have intimate knowledge of the deployment and tuning of Linux systems as well as the software development skills to automate and improve processes that span both our datacenter and cloud infrastructure. Additionally, they must also be able to work with little guidance and be comfortable in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Work as part of the team responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting our private and public cloud environments.
Work with and provide technical leadership to teams across the entire Zenimax family in order to gather requirements and design and deliver highly available solutions that meet their needs.
Research new technologies, including software and hardware, in order to solve both current and future business challenges.
Manage hardware and software vendor relationships.
Participate in on-call and production support of our business critical applications and systems.
Document operational processes and procedures and system topologies.
You must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a live environment, supporting data centers and virtual instances, in a global enterprise environment, as well as the following:
Experience with server technologies including the latest in blade and rackmount servers
Experience managing and tuning SAN fabric and storage solutions
Intimate knowledge of the Linux operating system and experience with CentOS or Ubuntu
Experience with public, private, and hybrid cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, OpenStack, and/or VMware
Experience using and optimizing metrics, monitoring, and logging solutions utilizing open source technologies such as:
collectd, Telegraf, Graphite, Grafana
Nagios, Shinken, Sensu
Elasticsearch, Fluentd, Kibana
Experience with configuration management solutions such as Chef and/or Salt
Ability to automate tasks using an administrative language such as Python or shell scripts
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Passion for games
Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and container orchestration tools like ECS, Kubernetes, Meso, OpenShift, or Docker Swarm
Experience performing system and network application load testing
A technical blog or GitHub account with code samples or architecture designs
