Jagex Games Studio is looking for a motivated, creative and organised Art Director to expand our art production capabilities in Cambridge, UK. The position would work directly alongside the studios Production Director and other art disciplines to ensure all external visual development maintains an aesthetic that is aligned with the products strategy and core aims.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in art pipelines, management and the communication skills necessary to be able to manage, direct and provide detailed feedback to external developers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Travel internationally and spend time on-site with external studios.
Working closely with the production director and other art leads to ensure collaboration, quality and consistency of art assets.
Represent the RuneScape brand in ensuring third party developers are using the brand in harmony with the original game.
Drive and deliver art styles for new IP and manage the art pipeline during the full cycle of product development.
Review third party art work and provide them with constructive feedback to improve the quality of their work.
Track production progress, pre-empt issues and escalate issues when needed.
Great communication skills, patience, diplomacy and clarity when working with international non-English speaking teams.
Provide feedback and quality control over external teams work by providing direction through examples, references or paint overs.
Experience of working in an art directing capacity.
Significant experience as a senior or lead artist.
Experience in building games both in house and using external developers.
Great time management skills.
Proactive, self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
Proven experience or good working knowledge in low and high poly modelling. UV mapping, shading and texturing skills in relevant 2D & 3D software packages such as 3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop.
In-depth knowledge of games development pipelines, environments, lighting, and 3rd party engines, such as Unity or UE4
Must be prepared for regular travelling to China.
Having worked with Chinese Development studios and publishers in the past.
