We are looking for a Designer that can be pro-active in spotting issues with a game and making suggestions on how to improve it.
We are completely transparent with our development partners so we need someone that can communicate in a clear and frank manner.
We want you to be an enthusiastic spokesperson for the game - get the rest of the team excited about your ideas and fully behind their implementation.
Skills and Experience:
We are looking for a Senior Designer with at least 5 years experience.
We need a creative individual who has an aptitude for problem solving, self-motivated to solve problems / iterate to raise quality of work, has a keen eye for the little details that improve player experience, able to accept and act upon constructive criticism.
Experience of taking project from conception, into production, releasing to market and updating as required.
You will have shipped a number of successful F2P titles - preferably on mobile devices.
Excellent knowledge of F2P game mechanics, loops, monetisation and retention.
Excellent knowledge of first-time user experiences, on-boarding, player feedback and new user journeys.
Experience of working with analytics and improving key KPIs to improve game performance would be an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to mentor other members of the team.
You will preferably have experience of designing community-focused features.
You understand the unique challenges of creating games for a casual market.
You have experience of using metrics and playtests to prioritise improvements to the game based on that data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-ordinate with the Product Owners to create a design direction or brief for projects.
Take the brief and run with it - work with the team to fully scope out a design that can be used for planning and implementation.
Concisely document these designs on our internal wiki - no massive GDDs or bibles required but step-by-step bullet points and diagrams to ensure the vision of the game is clear. This must also remain up-to-date as the game is developed and updated to avoid confusion.
Pull out the essentials from an idea to design a potential prototype that can prove an idea in hours or days - successfully prove the idea so it is ready for full development or fail quickly, learn what didn't work and move on.
Research - play completing products and review objectively - keep up-to-date with the latest gaming trends and design methodologies.
Participate in daily scrums with the rest of your team - be pro-active in finding flaws with a design or potential blockers that a design update could fix.
Participate in sprint planning - it is essential that you communicate your designs clearly and accurately so the rest of the team can break down the feature into tasks and estimate appropriately.
Play test and balance all areas of the game including game economies as well as gameplay difficulty.
Liaise with the Creative Director to ensure that all design is within brand guidelines or otherwise appropriate to the product.
Creation of game logic using in-house tools to set up the flow of a game.
Creation of templates or levels for our more arcade-focused games.
You must love mobile games :)
This is a full time and in-house position and we will not be processing applications to work remotely or in a freelance capacity. You must have the right to live and work in the UK.
