We are EA

We entertain millions of people across the globe with the most amazing and immersive interactive software in the industry. But making games is hard work. That’s why we employ the most creative, passionate people in the industry.

The Challenge Ahead:

Ghost Games requires a world class Concept Artist with extensive experience and a strong ability to visualise ideas, concepts and designs. You will be expected to contribute ideas and run with a loose description as well as be able to work to creative direction by others.

What a Concept Artist does at Ghost:

The Concept Artist visualises environments, characters, vehicles, colour schemes, and the overall mood and feel of the game. Although not involved in creating the actual game art, the Concept Artist will help determine the look of many aspects of the game. A good Concept Artist needs to be able to generate digital painted art at high speed as well as be able to generate high quality matte paintings when given the time. They must generate high quality digital images quickly that will inspire the team and can even be used as temporary placeholder art. They need to be very good at "perspective style" artwork and real and organic architecture.

The Concept Artist also needs:

Concept Artists are exceptionally talented artists with extensive professional production experience. From a technical standpoint, Concept Artists possess strong drawing and painting skills in colour and black & white. They have extensive experience with Photoshop and knowledge of other digital paint programs as well as a good understanding of 3D content creation tools (Maya).

A Concept Artist's portfolio should demonstrate the following:

Very strong traditional illustration skills in a variety of media as well as excellent drawing skills
A strong ability to draw in perspective
A strong ability to think in 3D
Great use of light and shadow
Concept development
Ability to create photorealistic matte paintings
Ability to create a strong mood
Ability to work within specific styles, including a style set by another artist or art director

Great communication skills, a drive to improve everything and a motivation to make a difference is essential.

What’s in it for you? Glad you asked!

We realize it takes world-class people to make world-class games, so we offer competitive compensation packages and a culture that thrives off of creativity and individuality. At EA, we live the “work hard/play hard” credo every day.
