Do you thrive on working with particle effects?
Are you a seasoned visual effects veteran and want to contribute to a gaming experience that will leave players with their jaws hanging open?
If so, our Senior FX Artist role might be the perfect fit for you!
Relic Entertainment, a wholly owned studio of SEGA, is the award winning RTS developer of Homeworld, Dawn of War and Company of Heroes, and we’re on the hunt for a Senior FX Artist to work at our Vancouver studio. As a studio, our role is to create a workplace where people are energized and empowered to not only do their best work but to continually surpass their best. We’ll push you out of your comfort zone to become the best version of you by giving you the ownership and creative freedom to solve our most challenging problems.
As an integral part of our team, you will create stunning, real-time visual effects for one of our unannounced projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a world class team of artists, game designers, and programmers, and create visual effects that will help develop an AAA gaming experience for our players.
As our Senior FX Artist you will…
Create and implement real-time visual effects - with a focus on muzzle flashes, blood, smoke, fire, and overall carnage
Support the Art Director in developing the look of post effects for the game
Conceptualize, define, and visually drive the development of effects on the project
Partner with the Art Director and other senior artists to mentor and support the members on your team
Communicate closely with the art, design, and programming teams regarding the quality of assets, game design, tools, pipelines, and processes
We’re looking for someone who has…
5+ years of experience creating special effects in either film or games
Expertise in working with particle systems and creating real-time visual effects
An expansive portfolio that demonstrates mastery of 2D and 3D art
Advanced knowledge of 3D software (XSI, 3D Studio Max, Maya)
A deep passion to create polished, high quality work
Hustle, initiative and problem-solving skills (we’re in gaming and things are constantly changing so we need someone who can be a self-starter in a busy environment!)
It’s a bonus if you have…
A background in animation
Worked on multiple product cycles in the gaming industry
Experience mentoring or leading other artists
A love for games!
What’s in it for you?
In addition to working on AAA games and learning a ton, we offer top-notch benefits and perks, including an extensive extended health benefits plan, retirement savings plan, and support for any required relocation or immigration efforts. On top of that, we realize it takes world-class people to make world-class games so we offer competitive total compensation packages.
