About Splash Damage

Splash Damage is an independently-owned studio on the outskirts of London, and we're all about crafting engaging multiplayer experiences. In the last year, we've launched our multiplayer shooter Dirty Bomb on PC and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One. We’re now working on several high-profile projects on PC and console and are looking for talented designers to help make them great.

The Role

As a Level Designer at Splash Damage you will work closely with Artists, Gameplay Programmers and Game Designers to design and implement fun, playable levels. You will participate in playtests and feedback sessions to gather feedback and for you and your team to provide positive feedback to other members of the wider team. You will collect and analyse playtest data, and iterate on layouts accordingly in collaboration with environment artists.

Essential Skills and Experience

Design and implement fun, engaging levels
A passion for making and playing games
At least 2 years of industry experience and experience working on 1 AAA current gen or last gen (PS3 / Xbox 360) console or PC title
The ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines
The ability to work independently without close supervision
A good ability to articulate and communicate level designs
Experience in creating first or third person shooters
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A passion for environment design and architectural concepts
Experience of level-building using 3D level editing tools (UnrealEd, Hammer, Radiant, CryEngine Sandbox etc.)
Experience of prototyping maps and environmental mechanics using UE4, UE3, Unity, or similar
Experience writing and maintaining high quality and thorough design documentation
Experience with source-control applications (SVN, Perforce, AlienBrain, etc.)

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience in multiplayer level design
Presentation skills and experience with PowerPoint
Knowledge of gameplay event scripting and entity setup
Experience with UnrealEd/UDK Blueprints or Kismet
Experience with 3DSMax, Maya, or other professional 3D modelling software
Experience with Adobe Photoshop or similar
Experience with scripting or programming language
Experience with wiki-based design documentation
Undergraduate degree in Video Game Design, Computer Science, Architecture, Entertainment or a form of technical training
