The Challenge Ahead:
Criterion is looking for an experienced Vehicle Artist to join the production of vehicles in our game on a long term contract. You will be key to the success of vehicle production end-to-end across a distributed production environment, working with internal/external teams and outsourcers. You will help define visual benchmarks, set the bar for damage and deformation and be a creative influence on livery design, sponsorship application and vehicle customisation. We are not just looking for a traditional vehicle modeller but for someone to own the whole process.
What a Vehicle Artist does at Criterion:
An experienced & versatile 3D Vehicle Artist to develop vehicle production with the vehicles team
Work closely with the Art Director and the Lead Vehicle Artist to ensure the visual target is met or exceeded.
Actively participate in the definition of outsource content, design and review
Working with outsource partners to define requirements and deliver quality vehicles
Work with the Lead Vehicle Artist to define art quality, methods and delivery as well as review final quality of outsource vendor
A Vehicle Artist also needs:
Experience of the game vehicle production process end to end
Extensive vehicle art experience on current/next-gen consoles and PC
Extensive experience working with outsourcers as part of a distributed development environment
Ability to learn quickly and comprehend custom in-house tools
Experience modelling with Maya or any other major 3D package (3D studio, XSI)
Experience in vehicle rendering with Maya or any other major 3D package (3D studio, XSI, Mental ray, V-ray, Turtle)
Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, and/or Illustrator for texture creation
Experience with a level editor i.e. Unreal, CryTek
Experience with PBR workflows and dynamic texturing software (i.e. Allegorithmic, Quixel)
