As Lead Campaign Designer at Certain Affinity, you are responsible for directing and managing the design and creation of all the single player levels and missions that comprise the campaign of a AAA first person shooter. Your wide range of skills encompasses both the creative and technical worlds, allowing you to successfully arrange and balance the flow, rhythm, and tension of the missions to create a cohesive experience that advances the games overarching narrative.

Direct and manage the design and creation of the entire single player campaign and all related game levels and missions for a AAA FPS game
Ensure the convergence of narrative and gameplay loops to eliminate friction between the player and character experiences
Define and drive quality with regards to balance, flow, rhythm, tension, and chronological coherence of levels and missions to create a consistent and immersive game experience
Establish the pacing and context for the introduction of features and mechanics and learning curve and associated difficulty level for the game levels and missions
Collaborate with the development team to brainstorm creative ways to implement and showcase the game’s core mechanics through level and mission design
Drive the design and creative process for mission objectives, challenges, puzzles and events
Collaborate with a narrative team of designers, engineers, cinematic artists, and writers to ensure the local and overarching narrative is being advanced in the levels and missions
Assist the Lead Game Designer in reviewing levels and missions, as well as full builds of the game and providing weekly feedback to the project leads and development team
Help drive playtests to gather critical level and mission feedback from players and develop a plan of action to address issues
At least five years of experience as a design lead and manager in game development
Shipped at least two AAA FPS PC or console titles in a Lead Designer role
Experience leading and supporting a quality-driven team
Thorough grasp of good level design principles (difficulty, risk and reward, pacing, tension, etc.)
Proven ability of supporting narrative through level and mission design
Ability to use world building tools such as UnrealEd, Radiant, Max and/or Maya
Experience with advanced scripting or coding
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and methodology
Ability to collaborate with cross-discipline teams including art, audio, engineering, and narrative
Thrives in a highly iterative, highly collaborative environment
Passionate about gaming and game development!
Bachelor’s (BA) degree from accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience in design, game development, or architecture
Experience developing for Xbox One or PS4
