The Game Assembly (TGA) is a specialist higher education institution based in Malmö and Stockholm, focused exclusively on educating game developers for the games industry.
Founded in 2008, TGA trains junior game developers across several professional disciplines, including programming, game art, animation, technical art, and level design. Today, approximately 10% of the Swedish games industry consists of TGA graduates, making the school an important contributor to the European games ecosystem.
Since 2017, TGA has consistently ranked among the top game development schools in the world on the annual rankings from The Rookies. This reflects the quality of our graduates and the strong industry focus embedded throughout our programmes.
In 2025, The Game Assembly opened its first UK campus in Liverpool, responding to strong demand from the UK games industry for a proven and high-quality talent pipeline. With the support of multiple UK game studio partners, the Liverpool campus welcomed its first cohort in September 2025 and continues to grow as a key hub for games education in the UK.
At TGA, we pride ourselves on delivering a consistent, industry-focused education model across all our campuses, continually evolving how we develop the next generation of game developers.
Industry Connection
Our programmes are developed in close collaboration with the games industry, ensuring the skills we teach reflect current studio practices. Throughout their studies, students work in multidisciplinary teams that mirror real production environments, developing complete games together.
This strong industry focus means our graduates are well prepared for professional studio roles, and many go on to build careers across the European and UK games industries.
The Game Assembly is seeking a Level Design Tutor to join our team in Liverpool.
In this role, you will play a key part in developing and delivering the Level Design curriculum, helping to shape the skills and mindset of future game developers.
Your responsibilities will include:
A core part of The Game Assembly’s educational approach is project-based learning. Students work in multidisciplinary teams to develop multiple playable games during the programme, simulating real studio production environments.
Projects are developed using Unity, Unreal Engine, our proprietary engine (TGE), and engines created by the students themselves.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about level design, game development, and supporting the next generation of developers.
You may currently be working in the games industry or have previous professional experience in level design. What matters most is your enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge and helping others grow.
Previous teaching experience is welcome but not required.
If you’re passionate about games and enjoy helping others improve their work, we encourage you to apply — even if you don’t meet every requirement listed.
At The Game Assembly, we offer a creative, energising, ambitious, and supportive environment. Teaching highly motivated and curious students is incredibly rewarding. You’re not just working on games — you’re multiplying your impact by shaping hundreds of future developers entering the industry.
We offer a strong pension scheme, an academic calendar that allows time for reflection and development, and up to 13 weeks of holiday each year.
