Are you an experienced UX Designer with a strong background in mobile game UX, rapid prototyping and early‑stage systems design?
Join a small, fast‑moving team developing a new mid‑core mobile title, where you’ll play a key role in shaping the core player experience from the earliest stages. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building frameworks from scratch, and wants meaningful influence over how players engage with core systems on mobile.
Location: Remote across Europe, with occasional in‑person meetings (Helsinki or London)
Employment type: Contract (4–6 months)
Start date: May 2026
About the role
You will help define the game’s UX vision, making complex systems intuitive, readable and satisfying to interact with. Working closely with design, engineering, art and technical art, you’ll create flows, prototypes and UX patterns that support rapid iteration during early development. Your work will directly influence core systems, onboarding, feature comprehension and moment‑to‑moment interaction quality.
What you’ll do:
- Shape the core gameplay UX with a focus on clarity, usability and player comprehension
- Define flows and interaction patterns for systems such as merge, combat and other gameplay features
- Create wireframes, prototypes and lightweight UX explorations for early‑stage testing
- Improve gameplay clarity, information hierarchy and player feedback loops
- Contribute to FTUE and onboarding by making systems intuitive by design
- Collaborate with design, engineering and art to implement, test and refine UX solutions
- Support rapid iteration and ongoing UX improvements throughout development
What we’re looking for:
Experience
- Professional experience designing UX for mobile games
- Background working on early‑stage or new game development projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating UX problem‑solving for complex systems
Skills
- Ability to simplify complex mechanics into clear, intuitive interactions
- Proficient with UX and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD or Sketch
- Strong collaboration and communication across disciplines
- Comfortable prototyping, testing and iterating quickly
- Able to work autonomously and take ownership in an ambiguous environment
- Strong understanding of UX fundamentals including clarity, flow and usability
Nice to have
- Experience with merge, strategy, RPG or other systems‑heavy games
- Familiarity with player behaviour metrics and retention funnels
- Experience working on F2P mobile games
- UI visual design or implementation experience
Working style / behaviours
- Scrappy, hands‑on and comfortable with limited structure
- Focused on solving high‑impact player problems
- Energised by building new games rather than optimising live ones
- Motivated by shaping long‑term player experience, not just polishing screens
Why join
- High‑impact role shaping the UX foundation of a new mobile game
- Close collaboration with a talented, multidisciplinary team
- Fast‑moving environment with autonomy and ownership
- Opportunity to define UX systems and patterns from the ground up
- Remote‑friendly with occasional in‑person collaboration
