Localization at Netflix is centered around linguistic excellence, a great team environment, and cutting edge technology. We are responsible for the translation and cultural adaptation of everything Netflix creates, from beautiful user interfaces to cinematic original programming. Amongst others, you will collaborate closely with Consumer Insights, Customer Services, Product Mgt, Engineering and Content Design. Alongside your fellow Localization Program Managers and Globalization as a whole, your understanding of diverse and evolving business needs globally will set us up for current and future success. This is an opportunity to work at the interception of both the user experience and shows on our service. You will develop and manage the localization strategy & roadmap, schedules, budget and quality for your area and guarantee the successful launch of the Netflix experience and content internationally.
The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and manage aggressive deadlines. You will need to demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work through ambiguity and complexity comfortably and effectively. The right mix of organizational and communication skills is key to success as is a curiosity as you learn into new challenges and directions. Attention to detail and a proven ability to manage priorities are also essential.
You will use your experience & education in:
- Partnering with Localization Project Managers and Program Managers, regional stakeholders, product managers plus upstream XF partners in the content (show/game/podcast) lifecycle. You will need to combine SME localization knowledge with Netflix-specific pipeline/logic knowledge in order to make decisions, ascertain risk, influence and advise on areas including workflows, tooling and logic as the business needs and challenges evolve.
- Overseeing the entire Localization program - you provide a localization throughline. Programs are multi-faceted (e.g. UI, evidence, marketing, legal) and your work will impact/be impacted by many other programs/initiatives within the company: you will need to collaborate and matrix-manage across your immediate team and many others to ensure a smooth path to successful global launches.
- Defining, collaborating and influencing at senior level on the best localization strategy that guarantees the most effective and efficient launch of Netflix experience in all languages for our members.
- Engaging, influencing and evangelizing upstream and often with partners to facilitate their understanding and path to seamless global member experience via successful localization. You bring curiosity, localization expertise and judgment as you foster relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the success of your program at Netflix. You proactively represent globalization on behalf of the entire G11n team e.g. across the entire XD organization and at senior leadership level.
- Partnering with Product and Engineering teams to set up new business areas from zero e.g. workflows, pipelines, quality processes will need to be put in place with a global and scalable approach which will delight our members and make business sense.
- Establishing and ensuring high quality localization standards, while overseeing the program for your component end to end, from Innovation to QC needs. Provide actionable data/context to our external localization partners to ensure localization quality and whilst providing actionable data back to Partner Engagement.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Languages, Localization, International studies, Business management, technology management, Communication studies or equivalent experience is applicable.
- 7+ years experience in localization program management working on language launches, global software launches, creative content and/or subtitle localization.
- 7+ years of production or program management at senior levels.
- Ability to lead large scale technical, and cross functional programs to delivery.
- Solid in-depth knowledge of internationalization and localization is a plus.
- Confident in industry standard localization tools including various Translation Management Systems.
- Fluency in a non-English language is a plus.
- Exposure/experience with consumer-facing product is a plus.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $230,000.00 - $360,000.00.
