Engineering Lead
Remote within CET/CEST -/+ 2 or Hamburg

We're looking for an Engineering Lead to provide technical direction across backend and frontend development for a large-scale live game environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll own delivery, guide architecture, and develop engineers while ensuring projects are delivered reliably and to a high standard.

You'll work across Java backend services and game frontend technologies, connecting the two areas and providing architectural oversight without needing to be the deepest specialist in every layer. You'll also help shape how AI agents are used across engineering, establishing effective workflows, review standards, and practices that allow teams to move faster without compromising quality.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams
  • 6+ years of expert-level Java backend experience
  • Strong AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform knowledge
  • Experience guiding frontend/game-client development
  • Strong architectural and technical judgement
  • Excellent written English and German time-zone availability
  • Genuine experience using AI-assisted engineering tools
  • Experience developing agentic workflows or custom AI tooling
Nice to have:
  • Adobe AIR or Unity development experience
  • Gaming backend experience
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS/SNS
  • Experience with real-time telemetry or anti-cheat systems
