ABOUT THE POSITION

Economy & Balance Designer is responsible for designing, tuning, and maintaining game economies and gameplay balance across one or more projects. This role focuses on hands-on implementation, ensuring progression systems, rewards, and difficulty curves create engaging and sustainable player experiences. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality production ready systems aligned with project and client goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and tune game economies, progression systems, and gameplay balance
  • Implement and iterate on values such as rewards, progression pacing, difficulty curves, and resource systems
  • Create clear and structured documentation for systems, values, and tuning logic
  • Support the long-term player experience, including retention, engagement, and progression flow
  • Analyze gameplay data, playtest feedback, and team input to improve balance and player experience
  • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, art, production, and QA to ensure smooth implementation
  • Communicate design intent, assumptions, and trade-offs clearly to team members and stakeholders
  • Ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with production constraints
  • Contribute to playtests and iteration cycles, identifying issues and proposing solutions
  • Support multiple projects when needed, adapting to different tyles, genres and client expectations


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience designing or tuning game systems, economies, or balance (professional or strong project-based experience)
  • Solid understanding of progression systems, reward structures, and gameplay balance principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work with data to model and tune systems
  • Clear and structured documentation skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across disciplines
  • Ability to take feedback and iterate quickly
  • Familiarity with common game design tools and workflows
  • Good at written English
