About the Role
The Game Assembly is seeking a Level Design Tutor to join our team in Liverpool.
In this role, you will play a key part in developing and delivering the Level Design curriculum, helping to shape the skills and mindset of future game developers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering lectures, workshops, and practical teaching sessions
- Preparing course materials and assessments
- Supervising and mentoring students during game development projects
- Supporting students through feedback, critique, and professional guidance
- Collaborating with tutors from other disciplines to support multidisciplinary game projects
A core part of The Game Assembly's educational approach is project-based learning. Students work in multidisciplinary teams to develop multiple playable games during the programme, simulating real studio production environments.
Projects are developed using Unity, Unreal Engine, our proprietary engine (TGE), and engines created by the students themselves.
Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is passionate about level design, game development, and supporting the next generation of developers.
You may currently be working in the games industry or have previous professional experience in level design. What matters most is your enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge and helping others grow.
Previous teaching experience is welcome but not required.

Essential Requirements - Professional experience working with Unreal Engine
- Strong understanding of level design principles including pacing, player guidance, spatial composition, and gameplay flow
- Experience implementing gameplay through scripting or blueprint systems within a game engine
- Experience working within a game development team or studio environment
- The ability to analyse player experiences and provide clear, constructive design feedback
Desirable Experience - Experience using 3D modelling tools to support level creation
- Experience creating training materials, tutorials, or documentation
- Familiarity with Agile development methods or production pipelines used in game studios
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or supervising others
