UI Programmer

Sumo Digital - Newcastle, UK

We’re currently looking for a talented UI Programmer to join not only a great studio, but great friends of ours! You'll be working on their next big AAA title in Newcastle!

The studio have a host of impressive partners that they work with including Microsoft, Sega, Sony, Disney, and many more. They have several exciting but unannounced projects that they are working on (all very hush hush!), but we can share that they are incredibly proud to have worked on Crackdown 3 (Xbox One), Dead Island 2 (multi-platform), Project Nova (PC), and Team Sonic Racing (multi-platform).

As a growing development studio, they are looking to add talented developers to their AAA projects across Xbox, PS4, Switch, and PC. If you're an experienced programmer, we would love to hear from you!

Your day-to-day will include:

Develop in-game and frontend UI

Work with UI designers and artists to implement, iterate, and polish UI features

Help the UI designers to understand the engineering implications of their designs

Work within existing UI framework

Create and extend UI tools and systems as appropriate for the task in hand

Assist project managers with estimation and task scheduling

The big question...why should you apply?

Not only will you be working within a globally recognised studio, you’ll enjoy tons of benefits also! From generous holiday entitlement, flexitime, and other employee benefits. Some of the bigger perks include a Big Day Out, plus epic Christmas parties, money on your birthday, and free fruit for everyone! If you like getting stuck into game jams, you can participate in one they hold where staff spend a full day developing and pitching their own game ideas for possible development by the studio in the future! It doesn't get more exciting than that.

The skills and XP you'll need to succeed in this role include:

Strong C++ programming skills

Previous experience developing in-game UI and/or frontend features

Excellent communication skills

Worked on at least one released game

The ability to work effectively in a team

Competent in managing your own work load

Experience of source control systems

A passion for making games

The following will earn you BONUS POINTS:
