A little bit about the city: Shanghai

The largest city proper in the entire world and a global financial centre, Shanghai is popular one for people all over the world to relocate to. It’s a city full of oxymorons – modern with an ancient feel, exotic but not alien, is this what makes it such an attractive city to outsiders? It’s easy for expatriates to sustain a western style of life in Shanghai thanks to the abundance of international restaurants, schools, diversity of entertainment and sports, as well as the fact that English is widely spoken here, more than in any other Chinese city. Expats often state that they can make ends meet more easily in China than back home, thanks to the low cost of living – this is likely another important factor in why life in Shanghai is so attractive for expatriates.
