Principal Animator in Amsterdam
This industry leading Amsterdam studio is looking for a Principal Animator to join their world class team. This is a great opportunity for a games industry veteran who has a strong understanding of realistic human and creature animation with an in-depth knowledge of Maya and unreal Engine 4. You will need to excel at creating and implementing high quality mo-cap and hand-keyed animations as well as blend shapes and setting up blend trees. This company is looking to redefine VR and bring realistic combat action and characters to their new games, this will be your responsibility as well as mentoring and motivating your team.
Principal Animator responsibilities:
Create benchmark creature, character and object animations
Collaborate with people from all over the studio to define our animation pipeline from rigging and animation in Maya to creation of Animation Blueprints and State Machines in Unreal Engine 4
Set the vision for animation whilst considering the balance between aesthetics and gameplay
Push to adopt new and innovative tools, pipeline improvements and workflow optimisations
Motivate and mentor your team of skilled animators to grow their artistic and technical abilities
Key requirements for this role in Amsterdam:
Excellent eye for core animation principals (timing, weight)
Knowledge of hand keyed and motion/facial captured animation
Proficient in different animations styles (realistic and cartoony)
Strong knowledge of character animation within Unreal Engine 4
Advanced knowledge of rigging and skinning in Maya
Provable experience of creative and technical leadership on a AAA product
