The role @ Sumo
The Outsourcing Manager role is the day to day interface between Sumo Digital's teams and the marketplace of vendors in the outside world.
Sumo Digital has, at any one time, around twenty games in development. For the most part the work is done by people in one of the project studios by a core team. However, there is a meaningful proportion of the work that either will get placed in other studios or will require external parties to engage with the team.
The team is responsible for identifying the work and defining it, but often they will do that assuming a solution or some outside knowledge. Their expectation is we will help connect them to the right, trustworthy, cost effective solution and give both the team and the people identified the best experience.
In your new role you will:
o Ensure that SDL always has appropriate options to solve capacity problems in the content domain.As part of the Distributed Development team, enable SDL to transform into a world class, frictionless, multi-site development organization.
o Act as the interface for Sumo's clients in the execution of standalone Distributed Development Projects.
o Work with members of the Distributed Development Department and Sumo internal Clients to agree escalation pathways, communication strategies and responsibility assignments for engagements.
o Work with Business Development to create options and methods for bridging long term utilization gaps in the contents domain in Pune or similar cost centres.
o For all contracts with an external distributed development component, work with Sumo stakeholders ensure that Sumo's commercial position is not compromised, ensuring that all appropriate notices are sent, and contract is compiled to or waivers / concessions obtained.
To be successful you will:Demonstrate a proven background in delivering projects with a large outsourcing, co-development and/or remote working component.Have experience in building a coherent set of vendors and maintaining relationships to the benefit of the contracting party.Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills, can craft a document, spreadsheet or presentation which can be delivered to convey complex proposals, defend a company position or negotiate a positive outcomeHave the ability to defuse situations and make people feel that their interests are being looked after.Be able to work towards compromises that ultimately benefit the companyEnsure that all appropriate notices are sent, and contract is compiled to or waivers / concessions obtained.Create and set clear goals for the external project teams, which are measureable and to assure reliable delivery and operational excellence.
