As Lead Vehicle Artist you will have overall ownership of the vehicle production pipeline and vehicle art team. Through expert technical hands on capabilities and superb communication and organisational skills you will see through the production of world class vehicle assets.

You will have an expert understanding of hard surface modelling and texturing process combined with a solid understanding and appreciation for real world industrial and vehicle design.

Organisational and strong leadership skills are a must for this role. The ability to organise and process significant amounts of information and complex requests requires a special candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Art Director and the Concept Lead to define the visual quality goals for all in game vehicles. 
  • Define and maintain vehicle production process ensuring a world class execution.
  • Lead a team of Vehicle Artists in the creation of a variety of vehicles.
  • Oversee the quality of vehicle art assets through all stages of production.
  • Work with production to manage team deliverables, ensuring they meet the defined objectives, defined quality bar, and schedule. 
  • Work with external studios and outsource partners to ensure the smooth delivery of high-quality assets.
  • Manage, mentor, and inspire team members, guiding them with clear direction.
  • Be able to create high quality, high resolution 3D vehicle assets, UV maps and textures and other content matching all technical and artistic requirement.
  • Iterate on 3D content with in-house and external 3D artists.
  • Work with technical disciplines and engine team to improve workflow.
  • Manage offsite vendor relationships as required.
  • Promote a culture of collaborative innovation.
  • Refine and improve relevant shader set ups to maximise in game fidelity.
  • Ensure team maintains quality and consistency across all work and meets objectives, quality bar, and schedule.
  • Implement feedback from Creative Director and Art Director.


  • Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the creation of high quality, high resolution 3D Vehicles, UV maps and textures.
  • A proven passion for vehicle and industrial design.
  • Strong experience in PBR, normal map and texture creation.
  • Strong experience with texture authoring tools such as Substance.
  • A minimum of 4 years professional experience as a Vehicle Artist in the games industry.
  • Proven experience of leadership within the industry.
  • A solid understating of hard surface/vehicle shaders.
  • Excellent hard surface modelling ability.
  • Strong experience with current 3D modelling tools such as 3ds Max, Maya or equivalent.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills. 
  • Strong sculpting ability in Zbrush or similar.
  • A positive collaborative and professional working attitude.
  • Strong English skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong communication skills with the capability to successfully work across multiple teams.
