Bad UI can ruin an otherwise great game, all because they frustrate the customer and provide a barrier stopping them experiencing what else it has to offer. Even the best gameplay can be forgotten if you’re forced to navigate an infuriating inventory menu.

It’s easy to be seduced by stunning graphics, but when it comes to the gamer’s experience, that’s not what makes or breaks it. If you’re a UI developer, you get this stuff and know your craft inside and out.

We’re looking for someone like you to build a new team for Frontier games. The studio are a major UK developer, responsible for titles such as Elite DangerousJurassic World Evolution and Planet Coaster. All of which have brilliant UI.

As the Lead UI Programmer, you’ll have already worked on other complex titles. You should have experience of handling multiple projects and deadlines while managing expectations, getting the best out of the people around you.

If you’re looking to take your first steps into a leadership role, this could be your chance! You’ll get the opportunity to set the direction, while giving your team the freedom to decide how best to get things done.

You’ll work hard to make sure your team are fully empowered to make the best use of their skills, while also making sure work meets the standards set by stakeholders.

Although you’ll spend lots of your time managing people, this is also a technical development role. You'll need good C++ skills but we're sure this won't be a problem for someone as talented as you.

If you’re capable within C#, Python, Java and/or Lua then that's great too! Console / PC experience is a must.

As a developer, this is a place where you can make some serious career moves. Set in Cambridge Science Park, Frontier have been influencing the games industry for decades, defining entire genres with their own “Cobra” technology.

Named one of the UK’s best places to work in 2018 by GamesIndustry.biz - here’s a snippet of what Frontier’s “Total Reward Statement” has to offer:

  • 25 days annual leave
  • Private health insurance
  • Discounted gym memberships
  • Health cash plan
  • Bicycle servicing
  • Regular parties / social events
  • A sharesave scheme (with tax benefits)
  • Spouse life assurance
  • Flexitime
  • Relocation assistance

This state-of-the-art office is shiny and new, with off-road parking and easy access from all surrounding areas. There’s also an onsite canteen with free food and drink for when you need a little boost!

Don’t worry if your profile or CV aren’t ready just yet, we can sort that out later. I’m working exclusively on this role - so if you'd like to know more get in touch!

Keep Calm and waka waka...
