Lead Programmer

Quantum Works is combining the worlds of cryptocurrency and gaming. We are looking for a lead programmer to come on board and lead the programming team in the creation of a new title, our inaugural game. As a lead programmer, you would have the opportunity to assist in building a new IP and help drive the production of a market-disrupting game. For the moment we are working remotely but once we are up and running we will be looking to form an office in Scotland, (UK).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage programmers on the team and help them with their development goals.
  • Along with the technical director help choose what software is best suited for the project; understand the engine, middleware and their constraints.

  • Build and manage the programming task schedules and help define the development milestones.

  • Developing and implementing key gameplay systems.

  • Identify technical/programmatic risks on projects and develop contingency plans to put into place with the team.

  • Collaborate with other leads within the studio on game features.
  • Identify and promote the application of programming best practices within the studio.

  • Be a positive leader, managing your team and mentoring when necessary.

  • Help create and build clear and concise technical documentation, TDD’s and programming schedules for example.


  • 6+ years of experience working in games.

  • 4+ years of experience in a programming position, within a game studio.

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Exceptional management and communication skills.

  • Preferably have previously worked on a multiplayer and/or a live service game. 

  • Good knowledge of programming languages and game programming practices.

  • Experience in developing AAA titles on console and PC platforms.

  • Proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine.

About you:

  • You are from a technical games background i.e. Design, Programming or Art with a strong understanding of the game development process.

  • Experienced in managing a team a being responsible for that team delivering. 

  •  A seasoned developer that has been through multiple product life cycles for game projects.

  • Critical and analytical thinker.

  • Flexible attitude to work and managing people and their input.
