Bunch is a group video chat app for multiplayer games. It's like playing a Nintendo game with friends on the same couch or a throwing a LAN party - anytime, anywhere.

We're building a digital living room that brings friends together through their favourite games.

We are a distributed team with hubs in New York City and Toronto. We've raised over $8M from top investors like London Venture Partners, Founders Fund, Betaworks; and some of the largest game developers in the world like Supercell, Miniclip, Riot Games and Tencent. Visit us on http://www.bunch.live/ to try the app on iOS and Android.

🤩 About the Role

We build a lot of the platform's games in-house. We're looking for an awesome 2D generalist to help make warm, vibrant games targeted at a casual audience. As the lead artist, you'll be tasked with establishing a strong visual identity and solid design principles across the entire portfolio, while managing a team of contractors covering a diverse range of art styles. You will be reporting to the director of game development, and collaborate closely with our CEO and founders.

This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to join a small team working on a fast growing consumer product, and make an impact. We are a talented team that likes to move fast, we are on a mission to build a lasting internet company and we like to have fun along the way.

💪  What You'll Do

  • Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something fun and engaging.

  • Establish, develop and maintain the games artistic style and visual quality.
  • Design flows and experiences that are simple and elegant.
  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams.
  • Partner with Product Managers, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee the user experience of the game products from conception until launch.
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to assets.
  • Help source and manage external art contractors, setting the direction for them and ensuring quality.

📐  Requirements

  • 5 years of experience doing visual design for games or other interactive products

  • Some examples of games/products that you've had a significant hand in
  • Portfolio showcasing proficiency and versatility in visual design
  • Solid empathy & interpersonal skills for building a shared vision around your work

👍  Bonus points if you

  • Have experience with both game art and product design.

  • Have some technical artist chops in Unity (or something similar) — you know how to import assets, configure animations, and make nice dynamic particle effects.
  • Love to play games (board games, video games, social games etc).
  • Have experience with agile software development practices, and have participated in product roadmaps and development sprints before.

🚀  Working at Bunch comes with

  • Competitive salary and stock options 💰

  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision plans 💪

  • Flexible vacation 🏝
  • Outfit your home office with the gear you need to work effectively
  • Regular team retreats (...to be continued post-covid)
  • Regular game nights and other fun activities (...in the meantime)

We believe excellence is impossible without diversity, and would love to hear from women, men, non-binary, trans, parents, non-parents, and people of all ages, ethnicities and sexual orientations — especially you. ✨
