Remote Work


Roll7 run development remotely and this role requires the applicant to undertake the vast
majority of their work at home (9/10 days). Appropriate equipment, dev kits and software
licenses will be supplied as required. One day a fortnight we work from central London as a
team, therefore applicants MUST be based in the UK.


Description:

We are looking for a Full-Time Lead Artist, to lead on the vision and implementation of highly
original art on our games. You will be able to concept, create and deliver game art to a high
level on your own, but also confident enough working with a small art team (under 5) to
deliver remarkable, polished games.

This is a full-time position working remotely in the UK.

Responsibilities:

The Lead Artist is responsible for developing and driving an original and innovative art style
for our latest IP. We’re not looking to develop something super realistic. Our next game is
going to be stylised, charming and colourful. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate and
excited about creating a vibrant and entertaining game world.

Work with our Creative Director to develop the aesthetic and visual ambition for the game.
Create concept art and other assets that establish the overall aesthetic

Single-handedly realise the visual ambition for the project in Unity, then work with our
producer to scope the requirements for extra resource and team members.

Initially 100% Hands-on art role, over course of project moving to 60/40% split between
hands on work, and working with other team members / resource to realise the vision.

Work with other disciplines to establish technical and aesthetic guidelines for art in the game.
Ensure that all assets created by the art team and outsource studios conform to the style and
technical guidelines of the title.

Participate in and run meetings, reviews, and planning as part of effective communication
with the team and outsourcing studios.

Inspire, motivate, and mentor other artists in best practices, processes, and procedures
pertaining to production.

Work closely with the production team in creating schedules for the art team.

Collaborate effectively with Marketing and PR teams to create and deliver high quality art
assets in support of the game.

Qualifications


5+ years as professional artist or equivalent experience.
Deep experience of creating 3D Art in the Unity Engine
Experience creating a broad range of art styles in both 2D and 3D mediums.
Proficient with standard industry tools like Maya, Z-Brush or Mudbox, and Photoshop, with a
high capacity to learn new tools
Have an understanding in interface design, flow and usability.
Have effective analytical, written, oral, team, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills.
Demonstrate knowledge and application of current processes and techniques, including, 3D
modelling, shaders, lighting, and composition.

Desirable
Strong UI and graphic design sense
Experience working remotely (with outsourced teams or individuals)

Have a passion for the industry and an understanding of market trends and styles.
Experience working in cartoon, cell shaded or minimal styles.
