Game Designer Responsibilities:
You’ll always be on the looking out for ways to make your games as balanced and close to perfection as possible, and providing players with features that go above and beyond their expectations
Create and improve existing gameplay, social features, game balancing and reward structures within core game curves
Use real-time feedback and metrics and your analysis of the numbers to update game designs
Work with artists and programmers to make sure that all implemented design mechanics and user experiences are done correctly
Calculate and report on mathematical features and balance of the games with programs and analyses of your creation
Script gameplay scenarios, prototypes and stage mechanics.
Requirements for this role in Toronto
Extensive professional experience with scripting languages such as Matlab, Pyton, Lua etc
Experience querying large data sets with proven examples
Deep understanding of mobile game trends and forecasts
Experience working on free-to-play games with knowledge of their game design fundamentals
Enthusiasm to learn new technology, level editors and scripting languages with a background of picking these things up with ease
Background working with the best practices of analysis transparency and reproducibility
Understanding and experience with game mechanics such as flow/pacing
Degree level education in engineering, maths, statistics, sciences or similar
It would also be helpful to have experience in Unity, a basic knowledge of C++ and some amount of technical experience
