As an Economy Designer at Electric Square, you build and balance the economic systems that strategically support our games— providing specific, pragmatic solutions informed by facts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define and finely tune in-game economies across multiple projects.
  • Identify and manufacture the need for virtual products and their availability to maximise engagement and revenue.
  • Constantly test theories, iterate on ideas, and challenge assumptions
  • Build economy simulations and evaluate their effectiveness / impact
  • Use game telemetry to analyse the current balance and react to data where required to ensure a healthy in-game economy.
  • Optimise revenue possibilities by designing and specifying experimentation opportunities.
  • Perform exhaustive market research to solidify best practices
  • Ensure thorough understanding of the economy is propagated throughout the entire development team through maintenance of comprehensive design documentation
  • Manage your own workload and priorities to best serve the needs of the product with Production support.

Skills and Desired Competencies

 

Technical

  • Extensive experience designing free to play game systems
  • Strong statistical comprehension. Confidence to interpret analytics data in order to drive recommendations
  • Strong understanding of gameplay & game design. Know how to build needs and emotions in the context of a game.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of existing Free to Play game economies is a must
  • Microsoft Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, etc

 

General

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have pride in delivering quality work with excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to work collaboratively and be a strong team player.
  • Be a self-starter, who can manage your own workload and prioritize requests from multiple avenues.
  • Be comfortable working to tight deadlines.

 

Reporting Lines

You will work within a project team, alongside the Product Owner, Lead Designer and, where appropriate, the Live Ops Lead on a day-to-day basis.

You will report to the Design Director, who will be responsible for your line management.
