Games Jobs Direct are WFH: Week 1

The Games Jobs Direct WFH Blog: Week 1

The Games Jobs Direct Team are lucky enough to be able to carry on working from home in these very strange times.

The Coronavirus has obviously had a huge impact on the way that a lot of us are working at the moment. Being an online business, Games Jobs Direct has been able to carry on largely as normal. The Games Industry as a whole has proven just how flexible and agile it can be, with studios largely still continuing to work - and hire - remotely.

The Games Jobs Direct team are keeping ourselves, and everyone else, safe by working and staying at home for the foreseeable future. We thought we'd put together a little update for all of our studio partners and candidates to let you know how it's going for our team.

Most of the studios we work with – and indeed most of the games industry – have moved to a flexible WFH model for the moment and that hasn’t stopped them from doing remote interviews and hiring people remotely. So if you’re looking for a job, or looking for someone to advertise your vacancies with – Games Jobs Direct is still here!

Jamie - Sales Manager

jamie@gamesjobsdirect.com

Our Sales Manager Jamie has very happily set up on his dining table, he’s also just had some new garden furniture delivered just in time to take advantage of some of this gorgeous early-spring weather!

Jamie has also been filming his lunchtime kick-abouts with his son in his back garden, as well as a bit of boxing practice and some basketball today!

You can check out all of Jamie's updates on his Linkedin here.

Abbie Dickinson - Digital Marketing & Communications Manager

abbie@gamesjobsdirect.com - @PirateAbbie

Our Marketing Manager (who definitely isn’t also writing this) is working hard from her Sheffield flat. Mourning the lack of a garden but with the windows wide open to try and temp in some of the glorious weather.

After trying a few different spots around the flat she’s found the best place for work is on the dining table next to the window surrounded by plenty of (fake) plants. Abbie is currently working away on the GJD Social Media strategy as well as editing and posting about our monthly podcast.

David - Marketing Assistant

david@gamesjobsdirect.com

David is very happy to not be commuting in the morning, the trains are not great at the best of times up North so avoiding those during a pandemic seems like a good idea to us!

He's also been able to play different games and instruments at home during his lunch break which he wouldn't normally be able to do at work. He's also started having a go at learning how to make games!

He also assures us that he feels a lot more organised since starting to work from home and can focus more on all the fantastic Games Jobs Direct tasks he has to do.

"Also bingeing on snacks is never a bad thing!"

Make sure to follow us on Social Media for all our latest updates, stay home and wash your hands!
