Finland and the Video Game Industry

Finland – One of the happiest countries in the world known for its long dark winter nights, Santa, reindeers and of course, mobile games.


Today Finland has around 240 game studios, of which 20 are major players: Supercell, Rovio, Remedy Entertainment, Housemarque, and also foreign companies such as Ubisoft, EA, Zynga, Epic Games, and others. With that said, it’s easy to see that Finland is quickly becoming a hotspot for game development.


Current statistics showing that there has been an 45% growth in the video game industry’s market value in Finland alone.

There are approximately 3500 people working within the video game industry in Finland, and with around 300 current vacancies, there is an active need for developers.


Approximately 35% of the current workplace originate from another country and as English is the official language in the industry, this presents some exciting opportunities for industry professionals from all over the world.
